1. What if I want to start a new business?

Shepherdsville is committed to fostering a vibrant business environment for startups and established enterprises alike. 2. What type of business license do I need?

Depending on your business operations, you may need one or both of the following:

  • Occupational Business License
  • Liquor License (if applicable)

3. What are the Occupational License requirements?

  • A 2% Occupational Tax on Gross Payroll must be withheld and remitted quarterly by the employer to the City of Shepherdsville.
  • Quarterly filing is mandatory, even if no wages were paid during the quarter.
  • If you have no employees, you must submit a list of independent contractors. Contractors must be licensed individually.
  • Annual Business License Fee: $100.00
    • Covers the fiscal year: July 1 to June 30
    • Operating without a current license is prohibited.
  • If serving food, you must collect and remit an additional 2% sales tax monthly to:
    • Paroquet Springs Conference Centre
  • The City of Shepherdsville has an exclusive garbage service contract with Republic Services—no other provider may be used within city limits.

4. Do I have to display my license?

Yes. All businesses must post their license in a conspicuous place.
Your STR License PDF can be found in your Business Center under "Manage Your Account(s)".


5. Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
A convenience fee of 2.65% or a minimum of $3.00 applies.


6. Can I pay by e-check?

Yes. E-check is accepted at checkout. A convenience fee of $1.50 applies


7. How do I amend a tax return?

Tax form amendment requests are processed by the local jurisdiction upon request from the account holder. The GovOS support team is not authorized to amend returns.    

 Please call the City of Shepherdsville at 502-543-2923 requesting to file an amended return.  

Please include: 

Six-digit account number and account name 

Period you need to amend (i.e. June 2025 form due July 31st)

If you overpaid or underpaid your original form

Brief explanation as to why the form needs to be amended

8. How do I close my account?

Account closure requests are processed by the local jurisdiction upon request from the account holder. The GovOS support team is not authorized to directly close your account.   

Please log into your account at https://shepherdsvilleky.munirevs.com/. Under the "Manage Your Account(s)" section, please select the account you would like to close. On the next page, please click the link for the "Business Closure Request" form. Please fill out the requested information on the form. Once complete, click the "Submit" button on the bottom right corner. After submission, the form will be sent to the City to review your closure request and inactivate the account.

9. What is License Fee Withholding and Reconciliation?

License Fee Withholding

Employers must withhold license fees from employees’ paychecks, which support city services and infrastructure.

GovOS guides you through reconciling withheld fees to ensure accurate financial reporting.

10. What types of assistance does GovOS provide?

11. Can I manage multiple businesses with one login?

Yes.
Go to “Manage Your Account(s)” and click “Add Accounts”.
You’ll need:

  • Your 6-digit Account Number
  • GovOS Activation Code

12. Can a business have more than one user?

Yes. Each user must register and provide:

  • The 6-digit Account Number
  • The GovOS Activation Code

13. What if I didn’t receive or lost my activation code?

Contact GovOS at blt.str.support@govos.com or (888) 751-1911.
To receive a new code, you must verify account ownership and provide written (email) permission from a registered owner or officer.


14. Can I file a Zero File tax return through GovOS?

Yes.
Choose your tax form from your Action Center and fill out the required fields.
Confirm submission as a Zero File return when prompted.


15. Can I schedule a payment in GovOS?

No.
For security reasons, GovOS does not store payment information.
You must re-enter payment info at each checkout.


16. How do I change the user on a property?

New users must:


17. I forgot my password. What do I do?

Click “Forgot your password” on the login page.
Follow the instructions emailed to your registered address.


18. Do I need to log into GovOS to see alerts and reminders?

No- All alerts are emailed to your verified address.

You’ll also see open alerts in your Action Center when logged in.
